Ring / Halqa 2018

By focusing on the small microcosm of Steilshoop, a prefab estate in one of Hamburg’s social flashpoint neighborhoods with 19.390 residents from over 120 different nations, the work "Ring/Halqa" reflects upon the process of intercultural and interreligious dialog in view of modern multicultural societies and their dealing with the challenges and chances of cohabitation they are faced with. While capturing constellations of Steilshoop’s inhabitants who gather in the local congregations, neighbourhood meeting places, support facilities and public spaces, I am trying to show scenes characterized by pragmatism and tolerance among each other.
